LASIK Eye Surgery

The gold standard in laser vision correction — most patients see 20/20 or better the very next day.

LASIK is the most commonly performed elective procedure in the world. From your free consultation through your post-operative follow-up, we walk with you every step of the way.

  • FDA-approved bladeless LASIK using the LenSx® laser platform
  • Wavefront-guided precision customized to your unique eye
  • Most patients achieve 20/20 or better
  • Quick, painless procedure — back to normal activities the next day
  • Free consultation to assess your candidacy

Laser Cataract Surgery

Bladeless precision with the LenSx® laser — superior accuracy and a faster, more comfortable recovery.

The LenSx® laser provides a technological breakthrough that has significantly improved the accuracy and precision of many of the most critical steps in traditional cataract surgery. Many of the surgical steps historically performed by hand can now be accomplished using a femtosecond laser, allowing for improved precision and higher degrees of customization related to each eye's unique characteristics. Traditional cataract surgery is already considered one of the safest procedures performed in medicine today — laser cataract surgery further reduces the already minimal risks.

  • Step-stair, self-sealing corneal incision — no blade required
  • Laser-created capsulorhexis: more accurate than manual technique in 9 of 10 cases
  • Laser softens and divides the lens, using less ultrasound energy
  • Reduced inflammation and trauma for faster, more comfortable recovery
  • Especially beneficial when using Toric or Multifocal lens implants

Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs)

Premium replacement lenses that can correct vision at multiple distances — reducing or eliminating your need for glasses.

Intraocular Lens Implants (IOLs) are artificial lenses used to replace the eye's natural lens during cataract surgery. Today, new IOLs solve more vision problems than ever before. Cataract patients have now become much more involved in the decision-making process, choosing from standard monofocal lenses, multifocal and accommodative lenses, and toric lenses for astigmatism.

  • Standard Monofocal Lenses — time-tested, covered by Medicare and most insurance
  • Multifocal & Accommodative Lenses — ~85% of patients need no glasses afterward
  • Toric Lenses — correct pre-existing astigmatism at the time of surgery
  • Dr. Restivo will help you select the IOL best suited to your eye and lifestyle

Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs)

Micro-incisions that gently round the cornea to reduce or eliminate astigmatism.

Limbal Relaxing Incisions (LRIs) are used to treat low to moderate degrees of astigmatism and are commonly performed at the time of cataract surgery. LRIs are micro-incisions in the limbus that allow the cornea to take on a more rounded shape during the healing process. Traditionally made with a blade, they can now be made with the LenSx® laser for even more controlled and predictable results. The cornea is normally stable within 2–3 weeks, and many patients can resume normal activities the very next day.

  • Treats 0.5 to 3 (and in some cases up to 4) diopters of astigmatism
  • Can now be made with the LenSx® laser for greater precision
  • Commonly combined with cataract surgery
  • 5-minute procedure; most patients back to normal activities next day
05

Posterior Capsulotomy (YAG)

A quick, painless laser procedure to restore clarity after cataract surgery.

A posterior capsulotomy is a noninvasive laser procedure to eliminate posterior capsule opacification (PCO) — sometimes called a 'secondary cataract,' though it is not a cataract. About 20% of cataract surgery patients experience haziness in the posterior portion of the capsule sometime after their surgery. A YAG laser creates an opening in the center of the cloudy capsule, allowing clear passage of light rays and restoring vision. The procedure is safe, effective, and painless — most patients experience improved vision almost immediately.

  • Non-surgical — no incisions or surgical instruments
  • Performed in-office; takes only a few minutes
  • Painless — numbing drops used; no injections
  • Vision improvement often felt almost immediately
  • Most patients resume normal activities the same day

LASEK & PRK

Surface-based laser alternatives for patients not suited to LASIK — same outstanding vision results.

LASEK and PRK are excellent options for patients with thin corneas or other factors that make LASIK less suitable. These procedures reshape the cornea without creating a flap, offering the same quality vision correction outcomes as LASIK with a slightly longer recovery period. Both are well-suited for active lifestyles and patients with physically demanding occupations.

  • Ideal for thin corneas or high prescriptions
  • No corneal flap — surface-based technique
  • Same quality vision outcomes as LASIK
  • Preferred for active lifestyles and contact sports
