What to Expect & How to Prepare
- Stop wearing contact lenses 1–2 weeks before your evaluation (soft lenses: 1 week; rigid/gas-permeable: 2–4 weeks)
- Arrange for someone to drive you home after the procedure
- Avoid wearing eye makeup, lotions, or perfume on surgery day
- Eat a light meal before your appointment
- Bring your glasses prescription and a list of current medications
- Ask your doctor any remaining questions — there are no bad questions
Recovery & Post-Op Care
- Rest and sleep for several hours after your procedure
- Use prescribed eye drops exactly as directed
- Avoid rubbing your eyes for the first 2–4 weeks
- Wear protective eye shields while sleeping for 1 week
- Avoid swimming, hot tubs, and dusty environments for 2 weeks
- Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments
